GOD TV Founder Steps Down over 'Moral Failure'

10-02-2014

The chairman and CEO of GOD TV has resigned. According to Charisma News, Rory Alec has admitted to a "moral failure" involving his marriage.

Alec co-founded the network with his wife, Wendy.

"After 20 years of service, I have had a moral failure this year," Rory said. "For this reason, I am stepping down. Please forgive me for the disappointment I've caused, but I know your eyes are on Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith, and not on me, an imperfect man. It is with a heavy heart that I confirm my season with GOD TV is over for now."

Wendy is the director of television at GOD TV. She now will lead the network with the help of the senior management team and the company's board.

GOD TV will continue its international operations. The network also will be moving forward with its work in Plymouth, England.

That includes finishing the Revival Prayer Centre on Union Street and the new staff building at the Burrington Industrial Estate.

"I will take responsibility on the first night of Revival Alert to share with transparency and authenticity regarding the situation to all our viewers and partners," Wendy said.

In addition, this Wednesday from GOD TV's Jerusalem studio, Wendy will address the issue further.

Charisma News reports that evangelist Benny Hinn will be in the Jerusalem studio with Wendy.

Other Christian leaders are reaching out to the couple, ministering to them in faith that their relationship will be restored.

You're asked to pray for Rory and Wendy Alec, GOD TV and the network's staff.

The reaction from followers on Facebook has been sympathetic.

One follower, Victoria Webster-West, wrote, "Rory and Wendy we stand with you in prayer for restoration, reconciliation and forgiveness! Rory thank you for stepping down in honesty during this time of God's dealing with your heart.  Wendy all of our love and support.  You've both done so much to build God's kingdom and our prayers cover you! Love of the Lord will win!!"
