One of four students injured in last week's high school shooting in Washington state has died.

Gia Soriano, 14, had been in critical condition with head injuries. She passed away Sunday night.

"We are devastated by this senseless tragedy," her family said in a statement. "Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her."

Soriano and three other students were in serious condition after freshman Jaylen Fryberg opened fire in the cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Another female student died at the scene. Fryberg died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Meanwhile, many are calling history teacher Megan Silberberger a hero.

Silberberger ran towards Fryberg and prevented him from shooting more students.
