Severe weather blasted the East Coast on Monday, disrupting the lives of more than 50 million people from Florida to New York.

The system included hail, high winds, severe thunderstorms and tornado watches and warnings.

In Georgia, hail pummeled the state and tornado warnings sent students in school scrambling to shelter areas. Also, a 60-year-old Atlanta woman lost her life after a tree crashed onto her house.

In Miami, sirens blared after authorities spotted a funnel cloud.

In New York, 45 mile-an-hour winds flipped umbrellas and major flooding caused numerous traffic jams.

And in Alabama, strong winds blew trains off their tracks.

Moderate rain is expected in the Mid-Atlantic states and New England Tuesday, while Florida will see showers and thunderstorms.
