Hillsong Stands by Biblical Marriage, Refutes Rumors

The senior pastor of Hillsong Church is refuting reports that an openly gay couple is leading worship at its New York City campus.

Brian Houston put out a statement on the church's website saying: "Hillsong's position on homosexuality and gay marriage has not changed and is consistent with scripture."

He said church leaders were surprised when the two male choir members announced their engagement. Houston said the men are not involved in leadership or active ministry at the church.

The statement also says the church loves the men and its role is to show grace and compassion to everyone.
