House Panel Seeks Details on Vetting Process for Foreigners

Members of the House Oversight Committee are pressing administration officials over the vetting process for foreigners coming to the United States.

They want to know what safeguards are in place to ensure that potential terrorists are not exploiting legal paths to enter the country.

The FBI says the San Bernardino attackers used private, direct social media messages to discuss jihad (Islamic "holy" war) and martyrdom as far back as 2013.

Lawmakers are working on legislation that would make reviewing someone's social media presence part of the standard vetting process to get a visa to come to the United States.
