Dr. Linda Mintle, marriage and family therapist, discusses how you can be prepared for these encounters and have a great holiday.

Mintle said that if there is anger or unforgiveness that "this can be a hot time when things can be out of control".

A common mistake people make is wishing that their family was different instead of responding to each family member appropriately. You have to "go into it with realistic goals," Mintle said.
