From Oregon to New York, winter weather led to icy road conditions Monday. At least five people have been killed.

"At one point we were actually out of ambulances to respond to some of these accidents," Maj. Chris Aucoin, with the New Hampshire State Police, said.

In Pennsylvania, a combination of ice and rain turned bridges, overpasses and interstates into a slippery mess, with three people dying in multicar crashes.

Maryland State Police say a New York rabbi died when the driver of a Honda lost control and crossed the center lane, striking a Honda Pilot traveling in the opposite direction.

In Connecticut, an elderly woman was killed in a car crash caused by icy road conditions.

The news wasn’t all tragic, however.

In Oregon, 27-year-old Kaleb Whitby miraculously survived a 26-car pileup on I-84 Saturday that left a FedEx truck ripped open.

After being sandwiched between two semi-tractor trucks, Whitby walked away with nothing more than two Band-Aids.

"Thank God that I'm still alive," Whitby told the Oregonian. "Now I’ve got to go figure out why."
