Satanic Cross on Display Outside This Florida City Hall
The Hallandale Beach city hall is now sporting a massive upside-down cross, an effort meant to send a message about separating church and state.
Local atheist, Chaz Stevens erected the satanic symbol and plans to keep it up until Friday. The cross is plastered with the message, "In Chaz We Trust, All Others pay Cash."
After arguing that it was unfair that a Christmas tree, nativity scene, and menorah were allowed to stand during the holidays, Stevens was given clearance to erect the satanic cross.
The cross is reportedly a retaliation against the mayor's proposal to post a banner with "In God We Trust" on city hall property.
Stevens admits his cross is "pretty tacky."
"We were going for tacky," he said of the cross, which also glows in the dark. It is "horrible looking. We love it," he said.
To dispel misconceptions that the cross sends a message that the city council supports Satanism, a local church deacon, Hubery Jackson, also got permission to erect a Christian cross next to the tacky satanic symbol.
Stevens was notorious last year for trying to deliver a satanic incantation at government meetings. He said he plans to erect more satanic crosses in Fort Lauderdale and Doral, Florida.
