President Ronald Reagan's son is speaking out about the release of the man who tried to kill his father, and his words may surprise some people.

Michael Reagan tweeted about John Hinckley, who will soon be released from a mental hospital.

"My father did more than say the Lord's Prayer. He lived it in forgiving John Hinkley Jr... Maybe we should do the same," he wrote.

Hinckley has undergone treatment since being found not guilty by reason of insanity.

A federal judge ruled he's no longer a risk to himself or to other people.

He will live with his mother in a Virginia neighborhood.
