Millions Vow to Boycott Target After this Happened

Target's new bathroom and dressing room policy became the center of controversy, but it is now cause of public outrage.

Bedford, New Hampshire police arrested 22-year-old Zachery Bishop Wednesday after he was allegedly caught secretly recording young girls undressing in the Target dressing room.

The arrest comes just months after Target announced its new policy that people can use the bathrooms and dressing rooms according to which gender identity they prefer. Supporters argue the policy was a victory for civil rights, but critics say it was about putting a political agenda above women's safety.

Now public tensions are high again after an alleged sexual predator took advantage of that policy.

The American Family Association (AFA) is calling on millions  to stop shopping at Target until something about their bathroom and dressing room policy changes. They have started a petition against the policy.

"Over the Independence Day holiday and throughout the month of July, we're asking all those who have signed the #BoycottTarget pledge to work diligently to get just one other person in their circle of influence to sign it as well," said AFA President Tim Wildmon.

"We want to give another boost to the boycott against Target's unsafe and family unfriendly bathroom and fitting room policy," he said.

So far, 1.3 million people have signed the petition.

But although Wildmon says a "drop in sales during the busy summer shopping season will garner some attention," Target had no plans of changing the controversial policy.

"In order for corporate America to listen to the concerns of millions of Americans we must stand firm on our values. That means not spending money with companies that go directly against our values and put women and children in harm's way," Wildmon said in a statement.
