As Venezuelans flee their country, many are settling in central Florida. Rev. Gabriel Salguero, pastor at Iglesia El Calvario in Orlando and president of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition, told CBN News that his church welcomes several new families every week.
"There is a real opportunity to be a Gospel presence and to be Jesus to these people," he said.
Salguero said his church is collaborating with sending churches in Venezuela. It's a bittersweet effort he explained, saying that he regrets that Orlando churches are benefiting from the loss of the Venezuelan churches.
Iglesia El Calvario sponsors job fairs and other practical helps for new immigrants.
"The Latino evangelical church becomes a bridge to social networks and to employment," said Salguero.
