A major research hospital in Tennessee is laying off 1,000 workers because of Obamacare, according to The College Fix.

The new law put Vanderbilt University Medical Center at risk of losing 2,000 positions because of a $170 million revenue decline.

"Vanderbilt is only one of many research hospitals in the U.S. that have had to make major cuts-many specifically citing Obamacare as the reason for the cuts," Fix Editor Nathan Harden wrote.

VUMC was forced to drastically change pay and benefits and predicts a $250 million decline over the next two years.

Hospital Chief Jeff Balser blamed the cuts in part on lower reimbursement rates from insurers.

"I want to reassure you that as we continue through this period of rapid change and immense financial challenges, every step we are taking is necessary," Balser said.
