From Genesis to Revelation, volunteers are reading the entire Bible out loud on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

The 25th annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon began Sunday and will continue non-stop until National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

The 90 hours of Bible reading continues day and night, no matter the weather. Some volunteers have even read under umbrellas in pouring rain.

Rev. Michael Hall, the marathon's director, said foreign tourists are often surprised that Americans have the freedom to read the scriptures out loud at the seat of the country's government.
