Voters are flocking to the polls in large numbers in India. For the next five weeks, voters in India will cast ballots to decide which party will control their federal government.

So far, polls show the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party may win, but will fall short of the majority needed to control the parliament that would pave the way for a BJP-led coalition.

Dr. Sajan George, president of the Global Council of India Christians, says the BJP's return to power may not bode well for minorities and Christians.

George says the U.S. government will be on the wrong side if it supports a new Indian government that does not protect religious freedom.
