Egypt Police Guard Coptic Christmas Festivities
Egyptian police are guarding Coptic churches across the country as they celebrate Christmas.
The Coptic Church observes Christmas Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Reuters reports uniformed officers are standing guard outside each church, while security forces and military units patrol the streets.
On Sunday, Egypt's temporary president Adly Mansour met with Coptic Pope Tawdros to reassure the Christian community.
Mansour was installed after the military ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in July.
Radical Islamists blamed Christians for Morsi's removal, prompting Muslim mobs to destroy scores of churches.
