Venezuelan Gov't Cracks Down on Protesters

The Venezuelan government is taking action against anti-government protesters.

Intelligence agents arrested and jailed opposition mayors who didn't stop rallies and barricades in their cities.

San Cristobal Mayor Daniel Ceballos was detained by the national intelligence service Sebin and accused of "civil rebellion."

In addition, the Venezuelan Supreme Court jailed another opposition mayor, Enzo Scarano. The San Diego mayor faces almost a year in jail for failing to take down protesters' barricades.

Agents have also detained opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez.

Protesters are demanding the resignation of socialist President Nicolas Maduro. At least 31 people have died since the violence began in February.
