The death toll in an Islamic State terror attack in Baghdad Sunday has soared, making it the deadliest terror attack there in a year and one of the worst single bombings in more than a decade.

At least 200 people were killed in the blast and 192 people were wounded, according to CNN

The suicide bomber blew up a vehicle in the mostly Shiite Karada District of Baghadad. Police and health officials estimate the death toll will rise as the search continues for missing people.

Mohamed al-Rubaye‎, deputy head of the security committee of the Baghdad Provincial Council, says at least 81 of the bodies are so charred that they will need DNA testing to identify them.

Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi has increased security measures in the country's capital in response.

This is the latest attack during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting and prayers. This year, it has has been followed by jihadist attacks launched in Orlando, Bangladesh, Instanbul, France, Jordan, and Lebanon.
