One person was killed and another wounded.

On Monday, mourners met at a local church to pray and protest. Police say they arrested four people in connection with the incident, but this is only the latest in a spike of assaults against the Christian community.

On Saturday, a group of Muslims attacked and torched houses of Christians in another village in southern Egypt following a rumor that a Christian intended to turn a kindergarten into a church. Security forces arrested at least 14 people.
