Two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a military checkpoint in Maiduguri, Nigeria on Friday.

Two other explosions occurred only hours later.

The police confronted two women and a man running toward a checkpoint across from the Federal High Court.

One woman detonated the explosive attached to her, which killed her and the man alongside her.

The second woman was arrested and is being interrogated.

Boko Haram has been quiet the past few months, but they are increasing their attacks recently.

It is believed that they are responsible for five attacks that have occurred in Maiduguri the past three weeks.

Boko Haram has been responsible for kidnapping civilians and forcing them to carry out suicide bombing missions.

Earlier this month the Nigerian army killed three female suicide bombers as they tried to enter Maiduguri.

The extremists have waged the insurgency for seven years, killing more than 20,000 people and displacing 2.6 million people in neighboring areas.
