Billy Wilson: Wake Up, America

Billy says on 9/11/01 Americans were impacted by the terrorist activity which made us all aware of our own vulnerability. All across the nation, people fell on their faces before God and sought His refuge in that time of trouble. What could have been a vital spiritual awakening for America has since dimmed.

Billy says only 17 percent of Americans attend church on any given Sunday. Moral failure among Christian leaders continues at a high level. The church’s influence on today’s culture is declining. The percentage of today’s youth who are committed to Christ remains relatively low.

“America has become the 3rd largest mission field in the world,” says Billy. “The present spiritual condition of our nation demands united, decisive action. We need more than one positive election, more than one court decision, more than one good series of sermons, and more than one significant local church revival. We must experience a new national awakening in our generation.”

Billy reminds us of the scripture in Joel 1:14, Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

Last year, on 9/11, thousands of Christian believers united together at county courthouses across the nation for Cry Out America. “On the day when America received her greatest physical wake-up call in our generation, we cried out together for a new Christ awakening in our nation,” says Billy. The gatherings took place at the courthouse, the symbol of the place of justice. Every state in America had at least one Cry Out America gathering. Eighteen of the 25 most populated counties in America held official gatherings and attendance ranged from 2 to over 1,500 people. State, county and city officials united with church leaders and youth in fasting their lunch to hunger for God’s mercy on our nation. “We cried out for God’s mercy and focused prayer on awakening every state, every county and every heart for Jesus Christ,” says Billy. In many instances, Billy says, groups knelt or lay prostrate on the public square as they cried for a new visitation of God’s manifest presence in their county.

NOW IS THE TIME
“This year, we are believing that the momentum we are sensing for Cry Out America will continue until every county in the nation joins us in crying out for a 21st Century spiritual awakening,” says Bill. On Friday, 9/11/09, Cry Out America is gathering believers to fast for one hour at every county courthouse in every state to cry out for a new Christ awakening in our nation. The event will take place from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Some of the ministries involved in the Awakening America Alliance include CBN, Moody Broadcasting, Assemblies of God, Youth with a Mission, Campus Crusade for Christ and Every Home for Christ. Executive cabinet leaders include Wellington Boone, Ron Luce, Anne Gimenez, Jane Hansen and others.
