Business Systems Analyst



Information Technology – Virginia Beach, VA

The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join its team of IT professionals.  Working with the Marketing Technology and Business Intelligence team, this position will determine the system needs of CBN and translate these needs into business process, system requirements, and solution designs.  This individual will provide a bridge between Information Technology, Business Operations, Marketing, and Corporate Support functions to ensure that business requirements are cohesive, integrated and contribute to enterprise-level efficiencies as well as departmental level improvements.

The successful candidate will be familiar with techniques required to identify business needs and determine solutions to business problems and define solutions that include systems components, process improvements, and organizational change.

This individual will be challenged to communicate with multiple stakeholders with varying Information Technology needs and translate those needs into a common set of business requirements to support the implementation of enterprise-level processes and common business rules.  Also, this individual will negotiate changes in requirements with these varying stakeholders when departmental needs diverge significantly with enterprise goals.

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will define the goals of systems and steps necessary to achieve them.  The BSA will use structured analysis to plan system modifications and will determine necessary data structures, processing procedures, and appropriate output to meet user needs.  The BSA will communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences using diagrams and exhibits to effectively convey analysis and solutions.  The BSA will collaborate closely with other BSAs and the Architecture team to ensure alignment with departmental and enterprise roadmaps.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Information Technology, or equivalent line of business or educational experience
  • Experience with project requirements definition and management systems methodologies
  • Analytical and product management skills required, including an understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Knowledge of SQL and BI concepts required
  • Working knowledge of digital media, consumer services and non-profit fundraising business models.  Experience with CRM and marketing software a strong plus
  • Knowledge of legal compliance regulations such as protection of personal and financial information (GDPR, CCPA, NY SHIELD ACT, PII, etc.) highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Business Process Modeling practices and techniques
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Critical thinker with ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as an effective member of a small team.  Experience working in Agile teams desirable
  • Experience with the introduction of new technologies and standards in an unstructured environment desirable
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and IT practices desirable
  • Experience in selecting and implementing packaged software solutions desirable
  • Flexible with ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
