HUD Secretary Ben Carson to CBN News: 'What are Christians Supposed to Do for People Who are Suffering? Act Like That Was You'

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced how it will spend $1 billion of relief aid funding.

This is the third wave of HUD relief spending, which so far totals more than $3 billion.
In this wave, each state will get a portion of the money to help respond to housing and community needs stemming from the pandemic.
That also includes the newly announced $75 million to help people with disabilities stay in their homes.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson appeared on Wednesday's edition of CBN News's Faith Nation to talk about HUD's efforts, if more relief is needed, and efforts to help the homeless.

When asked what he thought about the faith-based response to the pandemic, Carson responded, "What are Christians supposed to do? You know, in the book of James, first chapter, 27th verse it says, 'Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows.' Basically what it's saying is there are people among you who are suffering and it's your job to take pity upon them and to do something for them. You know, act like that was you."
