The New Horizon of CBN

The future of CBN is now! CBN is using the latest technologies to spread the message of Jesus Christ here in the United States and around the world.

“We’re not just pushing out a message, but we are actively receiving messages from our viewing audience, those that want to participate with us and start this great community together,” says Gordon Robertson.

CBN is making social networking a priority. The introduction of My.CBN.com integrates YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other destinations. This allows people to connect with others, create their own blog, and even share videos.

“Amazingly, the number one application that people go to that for is prayer,” he says. “They’re looking for people to pray in agreement with them. They’re also coming to pray for CBN, but especially to pray for one another.”

In 2009 alone, over 9,000 people in America emailed CBN saying that they gave their lives to Christ, thanks in part to the information they found on the Web site, blogs and social networks.
Anyone with a computer or mobile phone with Internet access can watch The 700 Club anytime, day or night. Other live webcasts, such as 700 Club Interactive and the Spiritual Gifts Seminar, are also available online and on podcasts.

“The amazing thing to me is being on a webcast and get a phone call from Pakistan or get a phone call for prayer from Hong Kong. With all the unique needs that that community has, how does our shared faith bring solutions to them now."

Understanding what is happening here and around the world is easier than ever through our 24-hours-a-day News Channel on CBN.com. It can be viewed on your mobile phone using pod casts from CBN.com’s web site, along with live streamed videos. You can also listen to the news and Christian music on the new CBN Radio.

“You get to pick what format you want, then it automatically programs for you. So you get to watch what news stories you want to watch, you get to listen to the music you want to listen to. All of it made available by this amazing technology.”

This mobile technology is also making a huge impact around the world.
In Asia, the cost to make a phone call is fairly high; so CBN has developed free counseling and prayer through text messaging. If more in-depth talks are needed, a CBN counselor will ask for a phone number to call back.

Television is still the most influential media out there, and for kids, cartoons are a must.

So CBN animators began creating the new, high definition Superbook in 2007. The goal was to use eye-catching computer graphics to tell familiar Bible stories. The first episode, A Giant Adventure, is a hit with children and parents alike.

“Superbook is very close to my heart, because I believe it’s an incredible tool to teach this generation the Bible,” Gordon says. “It’s not just for America, it’s for the world. You’re dealing with generations in India, Indonesia, in China, who don’t know the Bible stories. So this is a very effective way to get the whole gospel. We’re going to take it from creation all the way to when Jesus comes back.”

The next Superbook series is currently in production. It will focus on creation and the fall. Its goal is to try to answer one of life’s greatest questions.

Gordon explains, “What did God really intend when He created us? What was in His mind? What was His dream? If we can give that to people of this generation, if we can give it to children now, we can do a great deal. It will be one of the greatest tools I think CBN has ever come up with.”

In addition, the Superbook Kids Web site is revolutionizing the way kids experience stories from the Bible by creating their own characters, playing games, listening to Christian music, and learning how to accept Jesus into their hearts. Already, almost 300 children and their parents have e-mailed SuperbookKids.com to tell us they have become Christians.

But all of this is just the beginning. As technology advances, so will CBN’s ability to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“I see the ability to have the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Anyone that is searching for God can find the answers that they are looking for, and do it in a way that is beyond comprehension. The depth of information that can be provided to an individual and literally targeted to their specific needs is absolutely incredible.”
