"SHE'S GOT THE LOOK"

Supermodel Kim Alexis is the host of TV Land’s new reality series, “She’s Got the Look.” The six-episode series, a collaboration with Wilhelmina Models, Inc., sets out to discover a sophisticated, beautiful and confident woman 35 or older destined to become the next great supermodel.

“My favorite part of the show is that it's encouraging to women over 35," Kim said. "Normally ten to twenty years ago, you didn't start out as a model when you're over 35 years-old."

"It hasn't been done before,” Kim said. “There are older women who want to see someone they can relate to.”

TV Land’s nationwide search included months of online submissions, auditions and regional competitions around the country. One woman will be crowned the ultimate winner.

“The show gives a glimpse into the modeling business. It also shows that there's hope for women who thought that they had traded everything in for a baby or marriage,” Kim said. “It gives women a second chance at sort of a Cinderella story.”

“She's Got the Look” airs Wednesdays at 10:00pm EST/P time on the TV Land channel. Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 9th is the series finale.

MORE THAN A SUPERMODEL

Kim was born and reared in upstate New York. Always competitive, Kim was deeply involved in junior high and high school athletics and had planned a career in pharmacology. At the age of 18, she was "discovered" by the Elite Talent Agency. She soon moved to New York City and thus began an unbelievable career in the modeling industry. In fact, it's as though the term "supermodel" was coined to describe her.

Kim quickly made her mark in the modeling industry, earning a stint as Revlon spokesperson, doing countless TV and print ads, and gracing the cover of over 500 magazines, not to mention six appearances in the coveted Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues.

More than just a model, Kim parlayed her good looks and bright mind into other opportunities, including broadcast journalism, where she hosted several television shows, and film and TV acting. Overall, Kim's platform is encouragement for women – encouraging them to focus on the positive aspects of their life, including wisdom as they get older.

“I also enjoy speaking to young girls and talking to them about not compromising and standing up for what they believe is right. Those things are important,” Kim said.

As her career progressed, Kim combined her passion for fitness, devotion to family and her empathy for women’s issues by speaking out on platforms such as: Health and nutrition, fitness, healthy lifestyle, healthy kids, balancing motherhood and Christianity.

For Kim, balancing Christianity in the industry she works in can be difficult at times, but Kim is and has been prepared for the challenges that arise.

“I think in some way, I'm punished for it, or I have been in the past. I think that's why my career has stepped aside for a while, plus I was raising children,” Kim said. “God is positioning me and putting me back in the limelight and it's His doing, not mine. I just try to be a good witness and bring Him all the credit and all the glory. It's He that got me back into the business; it's not anything I did.”

A STRONG FOUNDATION

Kim grew up attending church with her mother and was active in Sunday school. At 17, her life was seemingly planned out: she would be a pharmacist. But those plans changed as she began to pursue a modeling career.

Even though she did not have a relationship with Christ in the beginning of her career, the Lord kept her. Kim was surrounded by sex, drugs and other forms of immorality and was often put in compromising positions but she never forgot what was instilled in her.

She married in 1983, and while raising her 2 boys, God placed a born-again nanny into their lives who played Christian music and witnessed to Kim from time to time. Eventually Kim dedicated her life to Christ in January 1990. Kim is now married to Ron Duguay (a former New York Ranger hockey player), who she met while on a modeling shoot and they married in 1993. Together they have 5 children – 2 each from their former marriages and 1 child together.
