WH Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley: President Said 'Send Her Back' Chant Was Wrong

White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley told CBN’s Faith Nation President Trump’s intended conversation at a North Carolina campaign rally got “sidetracked” by his ongoing feud with a group of freshman lawmakers.

“He wanted to try and outline exactly what these congresswomen had done over the last several years: the history of anti-Semitic remarks, the history of comments about how horrible they think this country is,” Gidley explained. “And then it was a little sidetracked.”

“But he disavowed it, and we’re moving on,” Gidley added. “He said he wasn’t happy with it. He also said he didn’t like it. And when asked if these chants happen again at a rally, ‘What will you do?’ He said I’ll do everything I can to stop it.”

The latest controversy stems from a chant in which Trump supporters shouted, “Send her back!” Pres. Trump disavowed the refrain which refers to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) – a Somali-born naturalized American citizen.
