From Deluge and Despair to Rejoicing!

After getting hit by back-to-back hurricanes, Lake Charles, Louisiana got a heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding.

“The water just came up pretty quickly,” says Andreann. “We had to think fast. Me and my husband, we actually started putting things up higher and making sure that the little one was okay, and once we did that, there was nothing else that we could do. The water started coming in pretty quickly.”

As water poured into the house, there was nothing left to do but watch, and pray.

Andreann says, “what gets us through is God; praying and having that faith because, without God, you don't you don't have anything. We do not have flood insurance, but we're not in a flood zone. We did manage to save some couches, but unfortunately, we did lose all the major appliances.”

Andreann and Alex, gutted the house themselves, but didn’t have the materials to rebuild.

“We need help” says Andreann. “I wanted to put our pride aside, and we need help.”

Thanks to Operation Blessing partners and volunteers, we were able to clean up debris from the yard and dry out the house so that it was clean and ready to rebuild. Then, we gave Andreann and her family new drywall and replaced all of the appliances they lost in the flood.

“Operation Blessing is a breath of fresh air,” says Andreann. “They're just angels. They're here to help. They're here to relieve you of some of the stress that my family is going through. It's like a weight lifted off of our shoulders. I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much. We are forever grateful for Operation Blessing.”
