Names of Christ: Guardian of Our Souls

I love this time of the year because it allows us to place special emphasis on Jesus Christ—the greatest gift the world has ever received. We know why He came to earth. Jesus has so many names, but the one that I came across recently was Jesus Christ, the Guardian of our Souls.

First Peter 2:25 says,

"Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls" (NLT).

Christmas can be a difficult time for many, especially if you've lost a loved one this year. Today, your heart may be heavy with grief. And of course, we have all been forced to deal with the worldwide pandemic, global unrest, and political division. All of it can create a constant state of worry and anxiety in your life.

Let this promise encourage you today: Our great Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is the Guardian of your Soul. I don't know about you—but knowing that I'm under His protection brings me great peace.

You and I can choose to cherish Christmas, perhaps more than any other because we know that we're safe in the hands of the Guardian of our Soul.

The next time you start to feel anxious, worried, or feel a sense of panic when you're all by yourself, remember that you're not alone. You have a Guardian, your constant Protector, who is with you. Wherever you go, wherever your family goes, your children go, He's watching. He's shielding your very soul from the enemies of God. What a comfort, what a powerful word for you and your family this Christmas.

Enjoy the season with confidence in His promises and allow the peace of God to fill you with the joy of the Lord.

Merry Christmas! And may God grant you extraordinary peace this holiday season.
