Names of Christ: Jesus

This Christmas season, I want to remind everyone of the reason for the season. And the reason is always Jesus—the wonderful birth of our Savior, born in a manger, born in relative poverty. He wasn’t born in a palace. He was born in a place where there wasn’t any room for Him at the inn. And He lived just like you and me but lived a sinless life. And then He died for our sins. Didn’t stop there—He rose again from the grave. And right now, He’s seated at the right hand of the Father. And what is He doing? He is praying for you.

So, this Christmas season, let’s meditate on the names of Jesus. And here’s one—it’s one of my favorites— (NLT): “And she will have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus—it’s Hebrew for “salvation.” Yeshua is another way to say it, but it means “salvation.” He will save his people from their sins.

Merry Christmas from your CBN family. We’ve spent this Christmas season studying the many names of Christ as we prepared to remember and celebrate the amazing birth of our Savior—Jesus.

An angel of the Lord told Joseph: “And she will have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” ( NLT). What a beautiful name that is! And we are privileged to celebrate His birth.

No matter how you’re spending time today, reflect on the amazing gift that God gave us—His only Son! I pray that you experience His presence deeply today and in the days to come. We wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. And we are so grateful that you are part of our CBN family.

Merry Christmas!
