Names of Christ: Provider

Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means "the Lord will provide"). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: "On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided." ( NLT)

Abraham didn't know that God would provide the lamb as a burnt offering when he walked up that mountain, ready to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. But he trusted that God was a good Father, that God would never leave him nor forsake him. He also trusted that God had a plan, even though Abraham didn't know what that plan was until the very last minute (after Abraham had already bound up his son, grabbed the knife, and prepared to sacrifice Isaac). God rewarded Abraham's faith in Him though, by providing that lamb at the very last minute, instead of having Abraham sacrifice his son.

What an amazing thing it is for us to have God as our Provider, our Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally and desires nothing but His best for each one of His children—if we just trust in His plan and walk in His path for our lives, even when we can't see where that path leads.

Whatever the deep desire or deep longing of your heart is this Christmas season, I encourage you to remember that the Lord is our Great Provider. Seek Him for the answers to your deepest longings. Ask Him to provide solutions where none seem to exist. And trust the path that He's leading you on, even when you don't know where that path is going. God will never stop providing for his children. God bless you.
