Strength to Endure

“I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.” ( KJV)

The greatest love we can give or receive is the love of Jesus Christ. David knew when he was in trouble that God’s love covered him and was the sole source of his strength.

There will be moments in life when you may not know which way to turn. As long as we’re human, trouble will find you if it hasn’t already.

The enemy might be on your heels. Whatever your story, know that you can call upon the name of the Lord! Let Him be your rock. You might be weakened in your body and spirit, but choose to reverence God for being the highlight of your strength and serving as your ultimate redeemer.

Remember God loves you, and no matter what you might be facing, He’s mighty to deliver, and He’s mighty to heal! Moreover, he assures us protection from the enemy.

Is there an enemy or a catastrophic event you’re facing in your life right now? You might face financial pressure, depression, sickness, cancer, or anxiety. Whatever it is, there’s no problem too large or small for God. You will survive this season; you will survive life’s challenges; you will survive grief, lack of resources, sickness, and chaos. You can shake the very foundations of the earth by praying today’s scripture through faith!

As you refocus your attention away from the problem and focus on the Problem Solver, you can remain confident that He is your fortress and your deliverer. Jesus died on the cross because he loves you. But on the third day, he rose again with victory over the enemy. Do you know that this very same victory awaits you? God is sovereign!

Whether you pray this as a prayer or sing this Psalm as a prayer, trust that in moments of distress, God is near. You have an assignment today: to call out to Him in prayer; cry out for Him in your spirit! When you call, there’s no doubt He’ll soon answer.

Eternal God; Merciful Father,
What a glorious day this is in You! I am grateful for the freedom to worship You in Spirit and truth! I lift my hands unto You as a sacrifice of praise and render thanks and glory unto You. This is a new day that I commit to starting a new journey in You! I repent for anything I may have done against Your Word. Cleanse me from my sins and all unrighteousness. Every day going forward, I ask that You come into my heart and dwell there continually. I will remain confident in knowing Your grace and mercy sustains me daily. I realize I have not made it this far on my own account, but Your mercy can deliver me from the bondage of sin. When I face opposition, I have peace that You will give me hope amid hopelessness. I rest in knowing You are a God that encourages, even in moments of profound discouragement. Amen.
