Extending a Hand to the Hungry

Across the country, many families still line up at their local food banks. In Oklahoma, Operation Blessing partner, “On White Horses,” is doing all it can to help meet the needs of the community.

Susan said, “It's just a hard time for everybody. I've been coming back here for two years, and it helps me a lot, because I'm by myself.”

Sandra said, “I'm a disabled. It helps when I don't have money to buy food.”

Ministry director, Travis Klingeman, has been feeding those in need since he was a kid.

Travis explained, “I live in Paden, Oklahoma. It's in Okfuskee County, which is the poorest county in Oklahoma. I was raised feeding the poor. No one else was feeding the poor out here. Operation Blessing asked if there was a need in the area. Me and my wife said yes.”

Thanks to Operation Blessing partners, families are getting the help they need. People drive up to get food, and some volunteers even take food to families that can’t come get it themselves.

Mona said, “I sack it up and divide it between these four families. I like giving and helping people. They are so pleased to get them. They let me know how thankful they are and how much it helps them.”

Travis said, “It's unbelievable how many people just don't even have value in themselves, let alone in this life. And giving away food just steps right through that wall and shows them their value. And so really, it's what drives us is, is the ability to love on people through food.”

“It helps a lot,” said Sandra. “I mean, it's less worries on how I'm going to feed myself, and it's been a blessing for me.”

Travis said, “I can't say thanks enough to Operation Blessing and all the faithful supporters, because it takes all of us to be the kingdom of God as we serve Jesus.”

Mona said, “I think they're doing what God wants them to do, and I think they love Jesus. That's the way I see it.”
