Floodwaters in the Night

Early one morning, many families in eastern Kentucky were startled awake by flood water overtaking their homes.

Johnny recalled, “I went to look out the window, and I raised the window, and I could hear the creek running. I came out to the front door and looked out and it was already up to my steps. We evacuated. I waded water almost to my waist to get out.”

Operation Blessing showed up and quickly began helping Johnny’s family and many others prevent mold from setting into their homes.

“They’ve done a lot of work, they worked hard, they have cut trees, they cut out sheetrock that’s been damaged, they took up floors, they took out vanities. They lifted the commode out,” recalled Johnny.

Johnny has some flood insurance, so with Operation Blessing’s help, his family is a few steps closer to being able to return to their home.

Johnny said, “If they hadn’t showed up, it would have been a lot more load on me. I appreciate them.”

Through God’s grace and the faithful support of Operation Blessing partners, the disaster relief team has been able to help many families in eastern Kentucky.

“I want to thank Operation Blessing for being here. The Lord has blessed us,” said Johnny.
