Moru always starts her day the same way.

Moru said, “Before doing anything else, I pray, and ask God to prepare a path before me. I believe that if you trust Him and ask anything in His name, it will come to pass, even if it takes a long time.”

When we met Moru, she explained that finding clean water had been a life long struggle.

“I never had enough time to gather both food and water,” said Moru. “When I fetched water for my family, we didn’t have food to eat that day. The next day people would send me to fetch water for them, and pay me with food, but then we would have no water.”

At times, Moru had to walk more than fifteen miles to get water.

Moru explained, “The dry season is long.  People here sometimes went nine months without washing their clothes or bathing, but I hate being dirty. I carried our clothes all the way to the river to wash them. And I used just a bit of water to clean my children. Every day was a struggle.”

Everyone in multiple communities here faced the same hardship.  So CBN partnered with Innovation Africa and drilled four deep wells in the area. With the use of solar technology, we provide more than ten thousand people with fresh clean water.

Moru said, “When the taps were first opened, we danced and celebrated with all our hearts. It was the first time in my life I saw clean water. I wanted to lie down and sleep in the water. God came here to rescue us. No one suffers the way we did before.”

Instead of spending her entire day getting water, Moru is able to gather grain and cook for her family.

As CBN Reporter, Dan Reany, stood in a lush field of sunflowers, he said, “Families here are growing sorgam, sunflowers, beans and even pumpkins. In the past the growing season was just three months long, and now thanks to the well they’re growing crops for a full twelve months of the year.”

Moru said, “The water enabled us to grow crops all around our village, and that’s what I love most about it. I can feed my family.  And now I can bathe my children and we can all be clean. May God bless you, and may you have a long, abundant life.  I know God loves you, because He gave you a heart to love and help us.”
