Tammi remembers, “I couldn't sleep sometimes at night for not knowing how I was going to pay my bills. I was very terrified to think about how I was going to support myself.”

Tammi had lived a comfortable life as a stay-at-home mom for almost 20 years.  Then, her husband said he wanted out.

“He came and told me that he wanted a divorce and that I would have to either take over the payments of the home or find a new place to live, which definitely threw me into turmoil,” she recounts. “I did not have any established credit of my own. I wasn't working.”

Tammi’s parents loaned her some money and helped her into her own home.  Meanwhile, her three teenage sons chose to live with their father.  But Tammi was still liable for $25,000 of debt from her marriage. And the only job she could find was a low paying one as a medical transcriptionist.

Tammi says, “I worked strictly on production. So, it takes a lot of seven cents a line to be able to make a paycheck, so I just had to work as many hours as I possibly could for them in order to be able to pay my electric bill, my water bill, just my basic utilities. However, I just knew that somehow God would take care of me, but I didn’t know how.”

Every day, she watched The 700 Club.

“I would see these testimonies of women who were single and how they had gone from having absolutely nothing to being prosperous,” Tammi shares.  “I knew that God was no respecter of persons, and if He could do it for them, He could do it for me.”

Tammi had always wanted to give and even though she couldn’t really afford it now, she decided to trust God anyway.

She explains, “I had not been able to give during the marriage because I wasn't making an income, and so it was the first priority for me- to begin to give immediately when I started working.  I saw in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that if I was faithful and I was obedient, He would bless me and He would support my need.”

Tammi started to give off of her small income to her church.  Within six months, she got a new job making twice what she’d been making before.  Later, she landed another job that doubled that!

She exclaims, “I absolutely know without a shadow of a doubt that the reason that I began to make this much money was because of my obedience and faithfulness to the Lord. And I attribute it absolutely to tithing.”

With her new job, Tammy was able to pay her bills, pay off her debt, and even start saving money.  She also decided to give above her tithe to CBN.

She explains, “When I see what CBN does around the world, it encourages me.  I want to contribute to the things of God because I want to further the kingdom and because I cannot be boots on the ground at this time in my life because I'm working at a full-time job, the way that I can be part of that is that I can give financially so that others can go.”

She especially likes supporting Superbook and shares it with her grandchildren and her friend’s kids.

“The Superbook series are on the level with the highest quality animated series that are out there,” Tammi says.  “Some of my friends are not walking with the Lord and I know that if we can get it into the children, a lot of times it'll make a difference in the parents' lives as well.”

Tammi has switched careers to work in Christian education. She’s making more than she ever did and recently got another raise and bonus.  Tammi is thanking God that her job is secure during this COVID-19 crisis, she can work from home, and she’s able to once again enjoy her life!

“I never went to college,” Tammi concludes. “There's no explanation for where I am today except for my obedience to the Lord and my tithing and my giving. To see what He’s done in my life financially, that I’m not depending on any human being, and God has supplied all of my needs, I couldn't ask for anything more than that.”
