No Longer Puzzled by Neck Pain

Nina Goforth enjoys staying active, exercising, and spends her free time working on puzzles.

“I have done puzzles for years and years and years,” says Goforth, “In fact, I take Jesus with me all the time even when I’m doing puzzles.”

And at 79 years young, Nina knows that aches and pains are just part of life.

“I had a doctor to tell me one time that the further you get away from age 25, the more aches and pains you're going to have. That was a sweet way of putting it, ‘Honey, you're getting older,’ he didn't want to insult me,” she said with a laugh.

But, one morning Nina woke-up with a pain that was no laughing matter.

“When I got out of bed I stood up and I had severe pain in the left side of my neck. And I tried to turn my head to the left and right and when I did the pain increased.”

The chronic and consistent pain persisted for two-and-a-half weeks, keeping Nina from driving, exercising, and even doing puzzles.

“Because in puzzles, you know, you have to have your head down and all that.”

She visited the chiropractor and while he helped relieve some of the pain, it continued to bother Nina.

“The pain was consistent,” she said, “It never stopped.  I didn't do a whole lot.”

One morning Nina was watching The 700 Club, like she did most mornings, but this time was different.

“I have watched Pat for years and years and years, but this particular day...I was sitting there watching and they were praying for people, Pat said a neck muscle was healed. He said, 'Just reach up and touch your neck in Jesus’ name.'”

Nina knew immediately she had been healed.

“Oh, it was just power, and heat started up in my head and went all the way down the left side of my neck. I said, ‘Well, if I’m healed, then I’ll be able to turn my neck to the left and to the right.’ And sure enough (gesturing turning head) I went all the way to my left, all the way to my right without pain.”

It has been two months since Nina’s healing and she is still pain free with full mobility and back to doing the things she loves. She’s quick to tell others how God healed her.

“Maybe it was so other people will know what He has done, and He does heal. But I just praise God for His healing. It's faith that you have. You have to have faith in God.”
