Shelby and LeGrand experienced the surprise of a lifetime when they discovered Shelby was pregnant with twins.

“Being the mom of twins is amazing,” said Shelby. “I love their different personalities. They’re always keeping me on my toes. Just seeing life through their eyes. It’s just amazing to me. I love it.”

LeGrand said, “It’s challenging, but it’s also rewarding. I wouldn’t change it for nothing.”

Shelby’s pregnancy was high risk, so she couldn’t work. LeGrand had a job helping with the remodel of a commercial building, but his income wasn’t enough to provide for a family of four.

“When I found out we were gonna have twins, I was nervous and scared,” said LeGrand. “It’s challenging. I feel like, as a dad, I wanna make sure they can look up to me and I can be there for them.”

Shelby said, “Trying to afford groceries, it’s very difficult for us. It's hard to get the money that we need to also feed us and then feed the kids at the same time. It’s hard to like balance it out between all the other things we gotta pay for. The difficulty of all of that made me feel very down. The not knowing of how we’re gonna be able to afford things is scary.”

That’s when they started receiving food and diapers from Dayspring Church, a partner of Operation Blessing.

“It was a blessing,” said Shelby. “Receiving food is a blessing in itself. Diapers are extremely helpful. It improved so much. I just feel more happier, more stress-free.”

LeGrand said, “Receiving food from Operation Blessing, it’s very helpful. It’s definitely a blessing.”

Recently, LeGrand started a new job building coveyor systems. The new job came with a better income.

Shelby said, “It’s like a miracle, because it’s like the perfect job that we needed right when we needed it.”

Shelby says they’ll always be grateful for the help they received from Operation Blessing partners.

“It’s amazing how many different things are in the pantry because of people who donate,” said Shelby. “It’s just been an amazing blessing for my family, and I know it’s blessing so many other lives. I would be lost without them in the dark times that we were in, so, ‘Thank you.’”
