Julie Lavender

Julie Lavender reluctantly took off the homeschooling hat she’d worn for over 25 years when her youngest started college a couple of years ago. Julie and husband David have two sons, two daughters, and one son-in-love. They were blessed with a first grandchild in December of 2018. Julie has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and taught public school before becoming a stay-at-home mom and homeschooling mommy. Julie and her husband, a former entomologist for the United States Navy and a current wildlife biologist at an army base, traveled about the country with their kids as Uncle Sam directed for 20 years before returning to their hometown of Statesboro, Georgia.

Julie recently published a Christmas devotional, Come and Behold Him, co-authored with Michelle Cox and published by BroadStreet Publishing. Another co-authored devotional with Michelle, Be Still and Take a Bubble Bath, releases later this year, and her parenting book, 365 Ways to Love Your Child: Turning Little Moments into Lasting Memories, published by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, releases fall 2020.

Julie Lavender won a Guideposts Writing Contest in 2014. Since winning that contest, Julie has been chosen for six Guideposts Refresher Workshops. Julie writes for her local newspaper, the Statesboro Herald. Her authored books include 365 Days of Celebration and Praise, Creative Sleepovers for Kids, and three teacher resource books for Carson-Dellosa. She contributed to compilations that include three Chicken Soup for the Soul books, two Guideposts anthologies, Feed Your Soul with the Word of God, and the Selah Finalist, Heart Renovation. Julie’s work appears in magazines and blogs like Guideposts, Mysterious Ways, Angels on Earth, All Creatures, The Upper Room, Refresh, Clubhouse, Today’s Christian Woman, Southern Writers, BookFun, Focus on the Family, Mature Living, Country Woman, ParentLife, Taste of Home, Just18Summers.com, and The Write Conversation.
