This spring, CBN in partnership with Dr. Perlmutter, is launching a transformational health and wellness challenge unlike any other. Viewers are invited to take part in a FREE 8-week Shape Up for Summer Challenge to achieve their personal weight loss goal. The Challenge starts on April 5th and ends May 31st. For centuries, doctors didn’t know how to treat, much less prevent, neurological ailments, from chronic headaches and anxiety to multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. But today we finally have science-based solutions that are easy, simple and require no prescriptions. Dr. Perlmutter’s GBWLP is a three-step protocol: The first step is to edit your diet and pill popping by:

  • Evict gluten (even if you don’t think you have a problem with it). Gluten, the “sticky” protein found in wheat, barley, and rye, is among the most inflammatory ingredients of the modern era.
  • Go low-carb, higher fat and fiber.
  • Abandon sugar (real, processed, and artificial). Sugar is in almost every packaged food.
  • Avoid GMO foods.
  • Watch out for too much protein. No more than around 50 grams for women and 60 grams for men per day.
  • Embrace the incredible egg. Eggs—yolks included—are an unrivaled food. They are versatile and cost-effective nutritional gold mines.

The second step is to add support strategies. For example, keep a daily journal to record an ongoing record of feelings and emotions especially those around food. “You are recalibrating one day, one meal, one thought at a time and will see the results positively accumulate over time,” shares Dr. Perlmutter.

Finally, the third step, plan accordingly. While food choices are absolutely critical, don’t forget the importance of restful sleep, regular exercise, and other practices that help balance life. “Your body, a gift from God, is an incredible piece of machinery,” shares Dr. Perlmutter. “Just because you devour too many calories and shun exercise one day, doesn’t mean you’ll gain ten pounds overnight.” The GBWLP is designed to help achieve and maintain neurological and overall health for a lifetime.
