Evangelical Reviews on McCain Mostly Positive

02-19-2008
Evangelicals continue to flood my inbox with their views about John McCain. Read below but so far the comments I’m receiving are mostly positive. Read below and leave your comment here.

From Sharon:

I am an evangelical Christian and I will vote for McCain.    I have lived long enough to realize that not everyone will agree with me on all things (nor should they) and also know that it is foolish to cut off one's nose to spite his face.  Voting for a democrat is doing just that.  Not voting at all is giving the election to a liberal democrat.  Do we really want another Clinton rule? How short our memory is of the last Clinton presidency.  Obama is charismatic and I have nothing against him as a man, but his politics are very liberal.

I do not know whether the Iraq war should have ever been waged, but it was and we need someone who will not pull out and admit defeat.  Bill Clinton did not have the moral character to stand up to terrorism and missed a couple of chances of taking bin Laden.  The Sudanese government had bin Laden and offered him to the Saudis and possibly to the US, but neither took the Sudanese offer and bin Laden ended up in Afghanistan.  If Clinton had acted is a different manner, 911 might have been avoided as well as the Iraqi war.

I believe that McCain is a man of integrity will stand up to what needs to be done, even if it isn't popular.

From Sandra:

McCain wasn't my choice for the nominee because of his stance on embryonic stem cell research and immigration. He has at times told jokes or made comments that I did not feel were in good taste. I will vote for him in the fall over the democrat party because even with his faults he is more conservative than the other side of the fence.

He has voted against abortion in the past. We need a President that can build up a stronger Military giving them the support and the materials in hand to work with so that they can win the wars we now fight and come home in victory. He isn't the man I originally supported but...he is the man I will be voting for this fall if he is the Republican nominee.

From Peggy:

David: I am a born again believer, active Christian in my local church; while I certainly do not agree with John McCain on many issues, I do agree more with him than Hilary or Obama.  Will conservative Christians sit at home and let the Democrats win and ruin our country? If so, certainly they do not have any say so.  The most important things for me are the judges, then the war issue (I would rather we fight there than here), the economy (if we continue with run a way pork, we are a doomed nation), and then the accountability of our elected officials.  I will vote for the GOP, whether my choice is the runner or not.  I believe God commands us to pray and then vote.

From Paul:

I voted for Jimmy Carter because he was a Christian.  What a mistake that was.  If we stay at home in this election we will be sure to get Hillary or Obama and that will be worse than Jimmy Carter was.  God can change the hearts of rulers and He has a better chance of reaching McCain that He does either of the Democrats.  If you stay at home on Election Day, at least spend the time in prayer.

 From Winfred:
I appreciate the work that you are doing..I also pray for a brokered convention and either a (dark horse or Huckabee) will be the winner. If not I will not roll over and allow a democrat to be the winner by default.  I do not understand people who will allow the democrats to win and appoint the next justices for the Supreme Court because of McCain’s flaws.  His are not as bad as Hillary's and Obama's separate or together.
From KP:
Mr. Brody, I don't vote on the basis of "the good of ANY party"! My vote is based on the person who has proven by their lifestyle and their actions that they are a principled person with character that is rooted in The Written Word of God and a personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ.  Then, out of that decision can a person govern and lead a country through good times and troubled times.

Candidates who compromise on issues just for political gain are like dust in the wind. They blow every which way that benefits themselves. They have lost their moral compass.

The Republican Party as it stands right now is in serious trouble. True conservatives are not necessarily true to any party, but to  our trust in God and our moral beliefs. There is NO Compromise.

From Anonymous:
I would much rather have Mike Huckabee running for president than John McCain. I am not sure about McCain or his values, our country was built on values and America has been so divided for so many years and the values have been broken down because of people who don't know how to keep God in the schools, or businesses, or in the homes. I am hoping that Huckabee can somehow get the nomination to be the presidential candidate to run against the democratic party because neither one of them are worth spending a vote for. Socialist agendas do not have a part in our country, no matter what people say; universal health care is just a start of all this, so no, no democrat for president. Thank you for letting me voice my opinion.
From Jennifer:
I might not completely agree with McCain and what he has to offer but I believe that we have to stick with our party to fight for what we do believe. There is really no difference between Obama and Hillary and voting for them would be a vote for the enemy and what he stands for.
From Greg:
I would never vote for Clinton or Obama. I was pulling for Romney but will now vote for McCain. I agree that McCain needs to reach out to the base and earn their vote. I don't agree 100% with him on everything but I do respect the man and will support him.
From Cheryl:

It just might be time for another party.  I've voted predominately Republican all of my life, and this is the first time I am disgusted with my party and their back room deals to cut Mike Huckabee out.  I won't be voting for John McCain because he does not mirror my convictions and in short...I just don't trust him to do what is right.
