Prison Officer Discovers Freedom in Giving

Honey was a correctional officer in a men’s prison for more than 20 years. She says that’s where God called her to be.
“But he sent me to the roughest, toughest bikers and they’d cry right in front of their tough buddies as they give their lives to the Lord,” Honey says.

Honey is a CBN Chairman’s Circle member from central California. She loves to support God’s work, but admits that wasn’t always the case.

“I’d give once in awhile maybe to a cancer cause,” she explains, “but I was pretty stingy with my income. And I was depending on my bank account, not on God’s provision.”

As her relationship with the Lord deepened, her perspective changed.

“It hit me. I can do anything God asks me to do. I’m free! I’m free! And I had so much joy.”

Then Honey became a member of The 700 Club.

“It was easy to give.  It was a joy to give,” she says.  “And especially to 700 Club, to know that the money is really going to good causes. And then it’s showing God’s love to the people, but it also leads them to salvation.”

She gave more over the years as CBN’s outreach expanded.

“Giving to the war veterans and especially the cleft palate and the cataract operations, and to know that they have a future ahead of them because they’re given trades and they go to school,” Honey explains.  “But mainly they learn about Jesus.  Seeing all those people travel all those hours to go to get water once or twice a day. And the water is so filthy. And CBN drills wells for them.”

Honey appreciates the help she receives too.

“I do call in to 700 Club and ask for prayer. And it’s really neat to find anointed prayer warriors on the other end,” she says.  “I really, sincerely, love giving to 700 Club. It’s my favorite.”
