Will Graham’s New Movie: Unbroken: Path to Redemption

Unbroken: Path to Redemption is the sequel to the first installment of Unbroken, based on Laura Hillenbrand’s best-selling book. This inspirational story follows the second part of Louis Louie Zamperini’s post WWII struggle upon his return home to the United States, the love story of he and his wife, and the inspiring story of what saved him from destruction. As a former Olympian and WWII hero, when Louie returned home, his real battle began. As a vet suffering from PTSD, he struggles to find peace after the trauma and torture he experienced while lost at sea for 47 days and as a prisoner of Japanese soldiers. The only thought that gave him solace in the midst of these disturbing thoughts was vengeance--killing his prison guard, Watanabe The Bird, who was responsible for his grueling torture. Louie felt betrayed by God and was angry that a kind and just God would allow him to go through such misery. Little did Louie know that when he met Cynthia and fell in love that God would use her to bring Louie to Him. During the rockiest part of their marriage, when Cynthia was contemplating divorce, she turns to God for help. During that time Billy Graham came to town to hold crusades, she convinces Louie to attend. During the first crusade, Louie was torn and convicted and runs out before the altar call. The next night he reluctantly attends, but feels the presence of God, while holding back tears, he is conflicted. When he tries to leave the service, Billy Graham asks him not to leave. Just then, Louie sees a vision of his Japanese capture taunting him to focus on him and his misery all while God is calling Louie to surrender to him. He refuses to bow to his capture again and walks to the altar to kneel before God where he finds instant peace. As a result, Billy Graham and Louie remained friends for the rest of their lives.

Will Graham plays his grandfather in the movie. He says, “I’ve never tried to be my father or grandfather. I answered my own call to evangelism. Now, it’s an honor to portray my grandfather in a moment that changed Louie and began a friendship into old age.”

The first installment of Unbroken was directed by Angelina Jolie and garnered three Academy Award nominations and opened as the third-best Christmas Day box office of all time, which brought in $165 million worldwide. This time around, Harold Cronk directs while Pureflix, The WTA Group and Universal 1440 Entertainment present this Matt Baaer film production being released on September 14, 2018.

Will Graham is a third-generation preacher as the son of Franklin Graham and the grandson of Billy Graham. “I’m not trying to be the next Billy Graham; I’m just Will Graham,” he says. “I have a burden in my heart to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If that’s to an arena full of people or one person on the street, I will do whatever God is calling me to do.”

Will’s first crusade, called Celebrations, took place in 2006 in Canada. Since that time, he has held outreaches on six continents around the world preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. This year, the evangelistic campaigns continue in Scotland, Australia, Thailand, Canada, and the United States.
