Your Love Gave a Child a Chance at a Normal Life

At first, 20 year-old Nida could not believe that her son Fatih had been born with cleft palate.

“I was ashamed,” she told CBN. “Then I imagined how hard it would be to raise him with his condition. I was afraid that, as he grew up, he would ask why he looked so different than us.”

Nida’s husband, Rafli, works as a teacher at a nearby school. The couple knew they would never be able to afford surgery for their son.

“I work as a math teacher and earn about a hundred and seventy-five dollars a month. When my son was born I thought, ‘How can we  pay for an operation?’ Someone told me it would cost around $2500 dollars.”

So Operation Blessing arranged for Fatih to receive free cleft palate surgery.

"We were surprised and happy when we learned they would help,” Nida said. “I was so grateful when Operation Blessing helped our son,” added Rafli with a smile.

A few weeks later we went back to visit the family and saw that Fatih had made a complete recovery.

“Now my son is so happy and is very active,” declared Nida. “Thank you so much to the people who support Operation Blessing! Without you, we would not have been able to help our son and experience this great joy we have now!”
