Bible Verses about Strength

The Bible has a lot to say about strength. These Bible verses on strength represent the many aspects of strength available to us and highlight where true strength originates.

The strength to do what we need to do comes from God

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:11 (NLT)

Feeling weak and inadequate isn’t a barrier to God’s strength working through us

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)

True strength is found in a relationship with God

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:5 (NLT)

God’s strength is a refuge

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1 (NLT)

God’s strength at work in our lives is a mark of His favor

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him. 1 Timothy 1:12 (NLT)

Strength comes when we need it

Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1 Peter 4:11 (NLT)

Joy gives us strength

And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” Nehemiah 8:10 (NLT)

Wisdom is also strength

One wise person is stronger than ten leading citizens of a town! Ecclesiastes 7:19 (NLT)

Strength is an important by-product of obedience

“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.” Revelation 3:8 (NLT)

We must guard our strength

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NLT)

With God’s strength, there is no reason to fear

“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.” Isaiah 12:2 (NLT)

Being strong is a choice

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10 (NLT)
