The Alphabet of Grief uses the letters of the alphabet as starting points, each chapter s word chosen based on the countless hours Andrea Raynor has spent with grieving people. Most people don t want a treatise on grief. They don t want to be educated, particularly, and they certainly don t want platitudes. They want a few simple thoughts or images to hold on to, a few stepping stones across the river of sadness."

In the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, she served as a chaplain to the morgue at Ground Zero. She has lectured throughout the New York area and has appeared as a guest on numerous television and radio programs. Raynor lives with her family in Rye, New York, where she is chaplain to the Rye Fire Department.
