The Spirituality of Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley is once again tapping into ancient spiritual and biblical practices to boost performance and productivity.

The online business website Quartz noted recently that start-up companies like Nootrobox encourage employees to fast on Tuesdays to increase cognitive functioning.

Many Silicon Valley companies also offer classes in meditation and mindfulness which thousands of workers attend.

Dr. Kathleen Patterson, director of the Strategic Leadership program at Regent University's School of Business and Leadership, says it makes sense that companies would encourage spiritual practices for their employees as a way to develop them holistically.

She spoke with CBN News about how fasting can help employees and why more companies are hiring corporate chaplains and spiritual officers.
