Bad News for Dems? Obamacare Premiums Poised to Skyrocket

Get ready for Obamacare insurance premiums to go up sharply.

Most insurance companies have been losing money in the Obamacare marketplaces. Now The Hill reports that insurers are already making the case for premiums to skyrocket.

They say fewer people are signing up and that they're sicker and will have higher medical costs than had been expected.

"Companies are either going to have to raise their prices significantly or drop out," The Hill quoted Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

He cited an NPR poll which found that one-quarter of Americans say they've been hurt by the Affordable Care Act.

"When 25 percent of the American people say that something that the government has done has hurt them, personally hurt them, it's going to absolutely be an issue in the campaign," Barrasso warned.
