CO County Told Stop Issuing Gay Marriage Licenses
Same-sex marriage is on hold in Colorado. On Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled Boulder County must stop issuing licenses while the court considers an appeal from the state's Republican Attorney General John Suthers.
The same court previously ruled in favor of Suthers' order to halt licenses in Denver, but that ruling didn't apply to Boulder.
Boulder was the first county to issue licenses to gay couples in the state.
It began issuing the licenses to gay couples in June after the10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which is based in Denver, ruled against Utah's ban. That ruling was stayed pending an appeal.
