Regent University's Cybersecurity Program Wins InfoSec Award

Cyber Defense Magazine (CDM) has named Regent University's Institute for Cybersecurity among its 2019 InfoSec Award winners. 

Regent joins other powerful cybersecuity institutions such as Herjavec Group, TTES, NSA.gov, Darktrace and HelpSystems in the "Trailblazing" category. Regent's website says 200 candidates were given awards out of nearly 3,000 candidates. 

The InfoSec Awards are designed to honor companies chosen by CISSP, FMDHS and CEH-certified security professionals. Cyber Defense website states the honorees are "the hottest, most innovative, best, market leaders, next-generation and cutting edge INFOSEC companies offering incredible products and services."

"These winners are some of the most innovative and proactive cyber security companies and service providers on the planet," said Pierluigi Paganini, editor-in-chief of Cyber Defense Magazine.

Stephanie L. Butts, executive director at the Regent University Institute for Cybersecurity, released a statement upon hearing the announcement. 

"It is an honor to be recognized as a leader in commercial cyber training by Cyber Defense Magazine," said Butts."The mission of the institute is to set the standard in cyber training and education by closing the gap between theory and practice, enabling the workforce to demonstrate their proficiency in cyber defense." 

"Today's employers face a tough challenge in preparing for the growing threat which includes having a robust cyber workforce and finding professionals in a tight labor market. Regent's formula provides the essential outcome based and hands-on experience trainees desire and employers require to demonstrate their ability to be effective cyber-defenders," she said.

Regent University has become a leader in cybersecurity training. Since the launch of its Institute for Cybersecurity Academic Center and state-of-the-art cyber range facility, leading cybersecurity professionals and agencies have reached out to learn from the center. 

Regent University currently offers a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, as well as undergraduate degrees in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Cyber & Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. 

Regent University reports it has 11,000 students enrolled on-campus and online in associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from a Christian perspective. Those students are studying in more than 130 program areas including business, communication and the arts, cybersecurity and technology, divinity, education, government, law, leadership, nursing and healthcare, and psychology. 

Regent is on the list of Best Online Bachelor's Programs in Virginia and is listed among top national universities by US News & World Report.
