A senior Iranian official said the notion that the Islamic Republic agreed to dismantle parts of its nuclear program is a mischaracterization by the Obama administration.

A White House fact sheet on the newly imposed nuclear deal says Iran will "dismantle the technical connections" used to enrich uranium.

But Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the deal only calls on Iran to stop high level uranium enrichment and to dilute current stock piles but that the country will not be dismantling any centrifuges or nuclear equipment.

"The White House version both underplays the concessions and overplays Iranian commitments," Zarif told CNN.

"If you find a single, a single word, that even closely resembles dismantling or could be defined as dismantling in the entire text, then I would take back my comment," he added.

Still, Iran's president insisted Thursday his country had no intention of building nuclear weapons.
