Second Iranian Missile Test Violates UN Resolutions

While ISIS has been the focus of attention in the Middle East recently, Iran continues to build up its military with another test firing of a mid-range ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear payload.

Iran carried out the missile test in late November, according to a senior U.S. official who spoke with Fox News.

The precision-guided missile, similar to the one tested in October, is an improved version of the Shahab 3 with a 1,200-mile range.

Iran's most recent missile tests violated two U.N. Security Council resolutions.

"The United States is deeply concerned about Iran's recent ballistic missile launch," U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power said after October's test firing.

President Barack Obama, for his part, said "I think what we'll be doing is we'll review, as we have in the past, any violations of the U.N. resolutions and we'll deal with them much as we have in the past."

But so far, the U.N. Security Council hasn't done anything about the November test. It's still debating how to respond to October's test firing.
